Built in 1957 and sited on Westfield Road, The Halcyon became a major player on the UK blues circuit in the late 1960s but also hosted a number of progressive and heavier rock bands in 1971 and 1972 when the Cloud Nine operation took up temporary residence.

The appearance from a fledgling, three man Thin Lizzy in August 1971 was probably their major claim to fame.
